Friends of Gyle Park have been operating as a charitable voluntary group since at least 2004, before registering as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) in December 2023. FOGP (SCIO) is a managed by a volunteer management committee elected by the membership.
Originally the group focused on acting as a communication route between the City of Edinburgh Council (particularly The Parks Department) to pass on comments and concerns from the community and park users.
More recently it has become clear that there is a need for FOGP(SCIO) to work more collaboratively with various stakeholders to deliver improvements within the park.
As well as working on practical tasks, including bulb planting, litterpicking and tidying up the wildflower meadow, FOGP (SCIO) have also fundraised to provide major projects, details of which can be found on our Past Projects page.
We are keen for local people to become involved in the park to continue to improve and maintain the facility as a community asset
