Feeling Fenced In?

Updated: Nov 10, 2024

What was happening?

The fencing and digging is repair work to the park following the sewerage work carried out by Scottish Water and the subsequent flooding of the footpath along the north end of the park.

  • The footpath running between the car park and Gylemuir Road was blocked off for a period of time in order to replace the path. We're glad to see this is now open again.

  • The artificial cricket pitch has been replaced.

  • Other areas, such as the one near the play park, will be reseeded for grass, as they were prior to the Scottish Water sewerage works.

Who is involved?

This work is being funded by Scottish Water and is being managed by City of Edinburgh Council. Sportsmasters UK Ltd have been appointed by City of Edinburgh Council to undertake the work.

Friends of Gyle Park is not involved in this process, but we're happy to pass on any feedback to the council on behalf of park users.

When will it be finished?

We are hopeful this work will be completed by the end of the year however the seeded areas will need time for the grass to establish properly so hopefully will be usable by next spring/summer.
