As part of our 2024 survey, we've heard loud and clear that the lighting in the park isn't ideal.
Firstly, the City of Edinburgh Council Parks Officer has been made aware of the issues whereby trees are blocking the lights. This will hopefully be resolved soon.
Secondly, City of Edinburgh Council are planning to redo the lighting in the park. Friends of Gyle Park have been in correspondence with the lighting engineer and our current understanding is that works will commence in 2025.
Work to upgrade the lamp standards, cabling & lamps in Gyle Park will commence on Monday 13th January and will continue until 7th February.
The contractors will take up some space in the car park, but will not take up any spaces for disabled drivers, nor will the entrance to the church be blocked.
The contractors have informed council officers that they plan to start the work at the Wester Broom side of the Park.
